The
Scene
Green and
yellow accents and tables topped with dried lavender brighten this
already-cheery converted bungalow. Located in the heart of Tinseltown's
post-production houses, it's usually filled with behind-the-scenes industry
types, who escape reality with a glass of homemade ginger ale. Chatty servers
treat all patrons like family.
The Food
The menu
consists of straight-up comfort fare with just a hint of Hollywood pizzazz.
Start by dipping warm, soft pita triangles into the aptly named Mount
Olympus, a pile of garlicky hummus, wild mushroom couscous, crumbled feta and
sharp sun-dried tomatoes. Garden-fresh salads are hearty meals, topped with
tangy, marinated shiitake mushrooms and breadcrumb-encrusted goat cheese or
sweet, honeyed chicken breast and Dijon vinaigrette. A grilled cheese
sandwich, oozing with melted Swiss and cheddar, is served with a cup of creamy
tomato soup that's too sweet and chunky to be the perfect childhood
rendition, but still a good foil for the buttery sandwich.
